Description

How the Grinch Stole Christmas: An Archetypal Reading - CANCELLED

In 1957 Theodore Geisel -- aka Dr. Seuss -- published How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which is now listed in the "Teachers; Top 100 Books for Children". We will begin by reading the story, looking at exceprts from various media adaptations starring Boris Karloff and Jim Carrey, and examining Geisel's process and reasons for writing it. Then we will explore the deeper implications from depth and archetypal psychological perspectives. Within the story we may find our own spiritual evolution from cynicism to celebration, and all in between. Our's will not be a schmaltzy sugarcoated approach, but a recognition of and self reflection on the many moods and stages of thought and emotion in a complex soul-making world, especially around the Christmas story and our encluturation of that story.
