You are invited to Register NOW to be part of our Center for Spiritual Living (CSL) Team trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for a week of volunteer service to build community and affordable housing in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Since 1998, CSL has been partnering with Habitat to build affordable housing locally, and this will be our 9th CSL Habitat Team trip to help people in other parts of the US recovering from natural disasters.  We chose Tuscaloosa because the city is still rebuilding from severe tornado damage in 2011, and Habitat is recruiting groups willing to travel there and help them.
Our Team will be building with Habitat Mon 5/16 – Fri 5/20, approximately 8am-5pm each day.  No experience is necessary, just a willingness to be of service and have fun. We’ll be staying at a Tuscaloosa YMCA camp in bunkhouses. Our lodgings come with simple breakfast and lunch daily plus 4 dinners. We are limited to a Team of 20. Participants must be at least 18 (16 if accompanied by a responsible adult) and sign waivers holding CSL, Habitat, and the YMCA harmless in the event of an accident.
Participants are responsible for their own expenses and travel arrangements; however we will be doing some group fundraising at CSL to help with expenses for folks who want to make the trip but can’t afford to do so at this time. So Register! Trip participants are asked to help with group fundraising.  Those who can’t go for whatever reason are invited to donate funds or air miles to help others have the chance to make the trip.

Expenses include your self-booked airfare/transportation, dinners away from camp, plus $500 per person for Habitat (paid to CSL. A $350 donation to for materials, etc. and $150 for “camp” lodging and meals). Flying in & out of Birmingham is recommended (1 hour away by car).  We’ll collect and share flight info and try to coordinate rental carpools to get to and from Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. As of 1/27 airfares start at $422 from SW flying Sat 14th, with Alaska/Delta next best at about $462 if flying May 15th.
Please Register by February 28th  to hold your spot and help us plan;  a refundable deposit of $50 is requested toward the cost of the trip if possible.

Thanks
